Data storage
OwnVault is a local-only password manager. Everything you save
(entries, accounts, passwords, hints, notes) is stored encrypted
on your device only.
The app requests no network permission, connects to no server,
and performs no upload, sync, or telemetry of any kind. We do not
have your data and cannot access it.
Encryption
Each password and hint is individually encrypted with
AES-256-GCM; the entire database file is additionally encrypted
with SQLCipher.
The master key is randomly generated by the system and held in
your device's secure hardware (iOS Keychain / Android
Keystore).
Your unlock pattern and master PIN are never stored — only
salted Argon2id hashes used for verification. Biometric data is
managed by the operating system and never touches the app.
Backups
Backups are user-initiated local exports, encrypted with your
backup password (Argon2id-derived key + AES-256-GCM). This is a
zero-knowledge design: nobody — including us — can open a backup
without that password.
Where backup files are stored or sent is entirely your
choice.
Data deletion
Deleted entries go to an in-app recycle bin where they can be
restored or permanently erased.
Uninstalling the app permanently deletes all app data on the
device.
Third-party services
The app contains no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting
SDKs. The Android version uses Google Play Billing for its
one-time purchase. Google Play processes purchase, order, and
refund information; it has no access to your vault data.
The "Rate & review" and "Contact us" entries open your app
store or mail app via system intents; what happens there is
governed by those platforms' privacy policies.
Children's privacy
The app collects no personal information and offers no features
directed at children under 13.
Changes
Updates to this policy will be posted on this page. Because the
app has no network access, changes cannot be pushed to you — this
page is the source of truth.
Purchases and refunds
OwnVault Pro for Android is a one-time purchase, not a
subscription, and is processed by Google Play. Within 48 hours,
you may request a refund from Google Play. After 48 hours, contact
us below for duplicate charges or failure to unlock. If an order
is refunded and revoked, Pro access ends, but existing local data
is not deleted.
